The
mighty wood bison (Bison bison athabascae) is descended
from the steppe bison that once thrived in ice age Yukon
and provided food for the territory’s earliest
people. Today’s bison can stand two meters high
and weigh a ton.Our flight takes us northwest through
the Sifton Range to Long Lake, situated near a broad
plateau where bison love to graze. After landing on
the lake you and your pilot will take a short hike for
a view of that plateau. Afterwards you’ll enjoy
a shoreline lunch before flying back to Whitehorse.
